Anyone know the deal with these guys? There clips keep poping up on youtube.

I went to their site and as his teachers he has a collage of photos from Yang Lu chan, Yang Jianhou, Yang Chengfu and Zhen Manqing (What is the Pinyin for CMC?). It only says that the above photos are people that he either studied from or who have influensed him. Pretty sure he didn't study with Yang Luchan...i could be wrong however!

That said all the comments below his clips make him out to be amazing. undecided.gif

I'm not crazy about this kind of form, and I don't know anything about this guy, BUT I've seen much much worse than this guy. There maybe some superflous arm waving, and he could use some more leg strength, but certainly it's not as bad as some are saying.

These guys are from up north, down under. Brisbane I think. They are due to do a seminar in Sydney around the 16th of Feb. I'll be working that weekend but my sparring buddy will go check them out and pass on the skinny.

If You look closely at the collage, you will see his picture included in the GREAT masters

Don't worry what is the real tai chi chuan, concentrate on your practice and deepen your relaxation,
You must be clear that the purpose of investing in loss is to eventually make a profit, not simply to lose for the sake of losing. Follow the opponent until he defeats himself.

The seminar is on the 16th March. I always go into these things with as much of a positive attitude as i can - it is hard to tell from video. The seminar will be on "internal power" and not TJQ forms or specific techniques.

As my teacher always says the form is the form the real test is in touching hands. So see if you can touch hands with him. The proof is in the pudding as it were.

It is $100.00 for a whole day. One of the main reasons i am going is because one of my TCM students (who is a well rounded individual) says that his teacher knows his stuff. So perhaps the appearance is deceiving, for me, it is worth finding out.

The seminar ad says that it will focus on internal power (not so much forms and individual techniques) - this built my curiosity. I believe there will be multiple opportunities to cross hands. Should be interesting.

For me, his push hands clips are impressive. He has a high level of taijiquan skills. I would definitely like the chance to meet up with him.

D.S. White,
Have fun at the seminar. I'm sure you'll have an eye opening experience. Cheers.

I have lurked on the old forums when it was still at EF.com for a long time. I only bothered getting an account recently on this forum because I had to PM one of the regulars.
I don't post much because I try to post only about stuff I know, and then only when it might be useful.
I find it bad taste to disparage someone you haven't met in person (the only real way to gauge a person's skill), but to each his own.

These guys certainly have mastered body as several fragmented units. That video sucked I'm afraid the alignment at best was poor, and the movemenets so broken.

Very dubious or at least poorly taught stuff.
