It's nice to know that there is an acrobatic martial art even for chubby people!

Comments on youtube clips can be deleted quite easily. I've done it to individuals carrying a grudge online when they
trashed my students clips. I would expect flaming the Om Yung Doe's clips would similarly be a waste of time.

I didn't know that was possible.

Dammit.

What about the rating system? I gave them one star on each vid. Can they change that too?

Yep. It's possible. You can also set comments to not display until you DO approve them.

And you can disable ratings if you like, just like embedding.

I may greatly dislike Oom Yung Doe, but when a person is injured or unwell (like the people in the vid), they don't care where something came from or how "martially correct" it is. If it's working for them and getting them healthy, then good for them...

Rather begs the question, doesn't it? Could they have gotten better therapy from a.) Joe Acupunturist b.) Massage Maggie or c.) OYD. The hidden advantage of an open society, where everyone does as he pleases, is that the negative outcomes are as evident as the positive ones. This is a unique thing in human history, and a good reason to vote for anybody but Hillary.

What's the beef with them? Sure, it may or may not be authentic and sure these guys aren't going to be wining any competitions or fights any time soon, but holding little weights while going through coordinated stretching and deep-breathing movements? Probably better recuperative exercise than your average YMCA Taiji class.

because theyre a tax dodging cult that bleeds weak people for money. which is exactly why people with health problems shouldnt be going to them for "treatment". im willing to bet that any martial art or exercise for that matter would benefit the people shown in the video minus the oom yung doe brainwashing

The thing is, they are at their core a very corrupt organization. Too many stories to tell here. They are more suited for the yahoo group devoted to exposing them. The school itself is probably on it's death bead, but they are still able to get rich students to "invest" in a school and become "school owners", even though they themselves have been training for less than a year in some cases, which will keep them afloat for a time.

so aside from their thieving, cult crazy lifestyle, someone asked the question "whats wrong with teaching sick people a little exercise?" Is that a serioius question? Let me rephrase it - What's wrong with taking money from people with serious health conditions who are hoping to get better &, in exchange, teaching them exercises which the teacher has almost no experience & therefore no way to guide students' correctness or progress?
Does anyone really not think the answer is completely fucking obvious. Everything is wrong. Its fraud & dangerous. I'll bet these brainwashed flunkies don't even encourage people to talk to any other healthcare professional (western, eastern, whatever). & the doctor they had on the clip, what is his experience with martial arts exercise. A lot of western docs have no clue about what good exercise vs bad exercise is
Bury the fuckers in lawsuits so they dont even have money to pay the boatman for the ride to Hades

the best exercise is one that people will actually 'do'. this school has managed to get these people off the couch and start working out. That's what most people need to get started, otherwise, they just spend their days as 'victims' of their disability. I applaud them for their efforts. It's no different than a regular gym charging people to work out their and get a bit healthier with their diabetes/arthritis. Why the 'hate' for this? Because they posted it on youtube which you view as being 'shameless self grandeurization'? How would this be different than if they went to a xing yi school that offered them a watered down version of training to assist them in their path of getting healthier? I fail to see a reason to dislike this video. These people aren't saying "these guys took my money, told me I'd get better and there was no improvement - I've been had"... they've all had positive experiences for their efforts.

i suppose youd have to go to the school and see it for yourself. i cant convince you they are damaging and i wont waste too much time trying to. im happy for the people who have had improvements, but i think it would be better for them in the long run to do the "watered down xingyi". they may be getting health benifits now but in the long run they will run into the disadvantages of being part of a cult. i dont hate the place as they were my first martial arts school and having been duped by them early in my training i knew to look out for bogus teachers and to look hard for a very solid teacher and get on the right path. they were a learning experience, but probably a learning experience that the poor people on that clip should do without.

Agreed. Didn't seem too bad. I'm hoping for the same sorts of benefits in some of my students.

I'm using Taiji, of course, but that's the benefit of arts like these to begin with, they can be scaled for any audience to receive some benefit.

OYD is a completely fake martial art, a money grubbing cult, and frankly just plain ignorant.

And there IS something wrong with that.
