i train my stuff very, very hard for results, and i have gotten quite far, but so far, i don't see anyone out of my small group of students that will go as far as i have (that could change of course).
i'm not holding my breath that any of my three kids will take up the art seriously, although my daughter likes to play sticky hands with me now, i imagine it will change when she's a teen.
and that's not even to say that i've really "got it" either, just that my ability to fully apply what i do know has gotten pretty good.
but the point is, we're fighting an uphill battle against all odds. it's a societal thing over all, not just the popularity of mma and televised events, etc.
my Sifu has complained for years that there's too many distractions like iPods and video games that are easier to indulge in, rather than eating bitter. as a result, the talent pool is severely depleted.

I understood the question and I replied accordingly. I don't think that they'll ever really disappear in that form. Will there be more water downed stuff? Yes. Will the real stuff be harder to find? Yes. Will they ever completely disapper in that format? I don't believe so. There will always be a few people keeping them alive as viable combat methodologies.

On a more positive note though I think there are still enough smart people out there who will either work out how to discard all the additional baggage and/or discover new things about the traditional CMA or evolve the art into something else as has always happened.

Never think that. I've felt things, physical terror that had nothing to do with chi or fairies from people going abot 10 % on me. When I say physical terror, I mean that you can feel something "Going" during a technique: ie : knee, spine, joint, etc.
In CMA. like any MA there are guys that can really do. You get to a certain level and some of these guys are demysified, then there are others who think? "Oh your catching on" and turn up the volume.
There are amazing CMA teachers out there. If you go see them? Then debunk them. Go see them two or three times and the recognize you? They know you as a guy and will probably beat you better and show you more.

So i show up at the class and kinda tag along a bit, they go thru a basic warm up, some qi-gong and then get all groupie for the forms bit, different levels in different parts of the room. This is were it goes all freaky, the guys who was teaching my group could do an approximation of the 24 step but his posture was WAAAAAAAAY off and he wasn't actually teaching anything just doin the form and letting everyone copy, not exactly helpful. At the end of the class i let the teacher know i would be more than happy to help out and show some extra stuff but got the we don't need your kind of help, i wasn't thinking of suddenly gettin all the old ladies sparing just some jibengong, standing and form correction but i'm the enemy and will ruin their little club.
So FUCK EM' I'm gonna start my own classes and teach what i was taught and let them crank their spines and destroy their knees not my problem.

CMA may be going in either direction.
Look 10 years ago when mma just started coming on the scene. Many people believed that trad ma were dead. Now your seeing karate guys doing well in mma competitions, plus you have guys like the dog bro's who UFC would'nt even let compete because they were too hard core.
There are still lots of good CMA teachers out there and there are still lots of people eager to learn the fighting aspects of their art.
Gotta say that this thread really just rehashes the same old shit and honestly just sounds like bitching for bitchings sake.

bullshiting about his newly acquire training skill from Taikiken, the Japanese version of Yi Chuan Japan.
To proof my point, I surf as much chinese web to draw info and slowly got hooked up with YI Chuan Methology
and Mystical Standing Pole Theory& there after then I end up taking up ILC.
My Sifu in Malaysia Jimmy Heow had come down to such a conclusion that, now adays people only attracted
by BEAUTIFUL MOVE, STYLES, STUNT etc. But not the effectiveness n quality of the application.
cHEERS!
