Keep it up - it is true that the basics are important, sometimes it helps to learn the reasoning behind the basics and what they should be developing. (We Westerners like to know "why" beforehand sometimes.)

Nice to meet you!

It's pretty hard to find anyone who is teaching Bagua in this area, but I'm learning Yin Style with Kuan Wang.
I was pretty skeptical at first, but it's actually working out very well.

Not only is Lion system helping me understand power generation, it's toning my body (inside and outside) up something serious.

It's also doing some crazy, and welcome things to my Taiji (which was always a little too 'squishy').

Outstanding bro... I have some of your gongfu cousins about 3 hours east in Maryville, TN. I'm a big fan of Xie Pei Qi's stuff... if I didn't have access to the Gao teaching I have.. Xie/He Jin Bao's Yin Dragon style would be my next choice!

Very cool!

Dragon is pretty awesome - and it makes sense that it would be attractive to people who like Cheng and Gao smiley.gif.

Overall, I'm pretty new to practicing Bagua, but my build seems well suited to phoenix. I'm very long-limbed, wiry and of average height so it's very inspiring to see the videos of Dr. Xie toying with guys 1/3rd his age. Otherwise, I'm really looking forward to getting into Kirin as well.

The main thing that got me interested in Bagua was the amazing footwork and moving root that Bagua guys develop, and I'm learning/developing a great deal practicing this stuff.

Anyway, it's great to meet everyone too!

I missed this one somehow.... I supposed it would be polite for me to introduce myself...

My is Reinaldo. I love in Puyallup, WA, about 40 min south of Seattle.

I practice yang style taijiquan (for about 12 years now) and been training in xingyiquan, on and off, for about 4 or 5 years now, but I've gotten a lot more serious about it lately.

I am currently deployed to Iraq with the USARMY, which will explain why I post at such weird hours of the night.

I've known this site for a while now, and I always read on it as a guest, but now I finally have the time to actually post on it and participate a little more. There are a lo of knowledgeable people on here and hopefully I can learn a thing or two from you guys to better my training.

thank you for reading.

Hello,

My name is Troy. I have been studying and practicing martial arts for over 15 years now; which includes mostly Jeet Kune Do and Yang Taijiquan. I live in Southern California, and I am going to school for my degree in Human Biology and then on to Chiropractics.

Well thought I would introduce my self. I have been studing different arts for what seams like forever as time and money allowed. I have just joinned the third cohort to start to study ba qua. I have long had a interest in the Chinese styles. The last style I studied was hwarang do, there is not a lot of choices in the Reno, Nv. area unless you drive 2-3 hours each way to the bay area. There are a few of us in this area that are going thru this training one has been at it for about a year, and it makes it a exciting endevor. (as I am more active in posting you will see that my spelling is sometimes very poor, but I do try to improve it).
